Beach vacations can be relaxing, but invigorating too if you use your time wisely and exercise while you are on your vacation. Not everyone likes to do that because they feel like their beach time is only a time to relax under the sun, drink cocktails and read a book, but if you only do that than you’ll lose the entire effort you put in your summer figure. You probably exercised a lot before your vacation because you wanted to look great in your swim suit, but all those high-calorie cocktails won’t bring you benefits. You can still read and relax, but give yourself half an hour and do some fun exercises on the beach. In this article, we will first tell you what to pack when you’re going to the beach, and after that we will tell you a fun way to exercise on the beach.
Packing for the beach
When you are planning to go to the beach and spend your entire day there, you need to pack some necessary things which will protect you from the sun. Never forget your sunscreen with at least SPF 15, a protecting lip balm and aloe vera gel if you burn easily. Pack a hat that has a wide brim which will protect your face, and don’t forget your sunglasses too. It’s always important to pack a big beach towel that should be wide enough for your body, but it should also be easy-fitted into your beach bag. Take a refillable bottle with water, because sea water, sand and sun are three of the most aggressive causes of dehydration. Take some beach toys if you are having company, and don’t forget your over-shirt with long sleeves and a pair of thin pants because you might be cold when the sun goes down and the temperature cools off considerably. Take a Frisbee, ball and shovels because they will help you exercise.
Exercise with beach games
There are some fun beach games which will help you exercise without noticing it and without getting tired. You can choose to play paddle ball, tag, volleyball or keep-away and get your heart rate and metabolism going. If you know how to throw a Frisbee properly, it will work your upper back and the muscles on the arms, but it will also provide you with great cardiovascular conditioning if you run to catch it. If you run on the beach, the sand will add resistance and it will increase the expenditure of the calories. Run or walk in the water and you’ll get an amazing low-impact workout. Volleyball is a great team game that will burn the calories from all your cocktails.
Other beach exercises
Picking up sea shells and sand dollars will allow you to work your lower back, quadriceps and hamstrings. Bend from your knees and you’ll get a great exercise without even knowing it. You will get good exercise even with walking along the beach. If you have kids, help them build a sand castle and you’ll do two things at the same time: you’ll make them happy and you’ll get some exercise. Take a lesson for surfing and you’ll provide yourself with lower and upper-body conditioning. Place your towel on the sand and perform some gentle poses of yoga to stretch your body.
